Define the term 'stopping potential' in ...

Define the term 'stopping potential' in relation to photoelectric effect.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Stopping potential is that minimum negative potential given to anode in a photocell for which the photoelectric current becomes zero. It is denoted by `V_(s)`. The value of stopping potential is different for different metals but it is independent of the intensity of the incident light.
