Two wires of equal length one of copper ...

Two wires of equal length one of copper and other of manganin have the same resistance. Which wire is thicker?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Resistance `R=(rho//)/(A)=(rho//)/(pir^(2))`.
Resistivity `rho` of manganin is much greater than that of copper, therefore to keep same resistance R, for same length of wire, the manganin wire must be thicker.
