A bar magnet is moved in the direction ...

A bar magnet is moved in the direction indicated by the arrow between two coil `PQ` and `CD`. Predict the directions of induced in each coil.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In this case, the current induced in coil PQ will oppose the approach of magnet while coil CD will oppose the recession of magnet, so nearer faces of coils will act as S-poles. Accordingly the direction of current in coil PQ will be along QRP and in coil CD it will be along YZX.
