Explain the term , 'amplitude modulation...

Explain the term , 'amplitude modulation' of a signal . For an amplitude modulated wave, the maximum amplitude is 10 V and the minimum amplitude is 2 V.Calculate the modulation index.

The process of changing the amplitude of a carrier wave is in accordance with the amplitude of the low frequency signals (mod wave) without changing the frequency and phase of carrier wave is called AM (Amplitude modulation).
Modulation index `m_(a)=(E_max-E_min)/(E_max+E_min)" "[:' E_(max)= 10 V,Emin = 2 V]`
`m_(a)=(10V-2V)/(10V+2V)=(8V)/(12V) = 2/3`
