What is a balanced chemical equation ? Why should a chemical equation be balanced ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A chemical equation where the number of atoms of each reactant and the mass of all reactants equal the number of atoms of the same elements on the product side and the mass of the products.
Balancing a chemical equation is done based on the law of conservation of mass, which states states that mass can neither be created nor destroyed but can be converted from one form to another. Hence in a chemical reaction the mass of reactants should always equal the mass of products.
