Define reflection and refraction of light.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The bouncing back of rays of light from a polished and shiny surface is called reflection of light. During reflection, light ray passing through a medium strikes the surface of an object and bounces back to the same medium. Refraction of light refers to change in the direction of light as it travels from one medium to another. The change in direction happens due to change difference in speed of light in the two media.
