Define the radius of curvature of a spherical mirror. Find the nature and focal length of a spherical mirror whose radius of curvature is 24 cm.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The radius of the sphere from which the mirror is made is called the Radius of curvature [r] of the spherical mirror. The radius of curvature is a line joining any point on the reflecting surface of the mirror to the centre of the mirror [C].
r = 2 [focal length of the spherical mirror]
`r=+24 cm = 2f " " f=+12 cm`
The spherical mirror is a convex mirror.
