Let `T_(1)` and `T_(2)` be the tensions in the strings OA and OB respectively.

According to lami.s theorem
`T_(1)/(sin 90^(@)) =T_(2)/(sin 150^(@)) =W/(sin 120^(@)) (T_(2)=30 N)`
on solving `w=30sqrt(3) N` and `T_(1) = 60 N`

A stone tied to the end of a string is whirled in a horizontal circle. The mass of the stone is 1.0 kg and the string is 0.50 m long. If the stone revolves at a constant speed for 10 times in 15.71 s, (a) what is the tension in the string? (b) What would happen to the tension in the string if the mass was doubled and all the other quantities remained the same? (c) What would happen to the tension in the string if the period was doubled and all the other quantities remain the same?

A 5.5 m long string has a mass of 0.035 kg. If the tension in the string is 77 N, the speed of a wave on the string is

A string under a tension of 129.6 N produces 10 beats per sec when it is vibrated along with a tuning fork. When the tension in the string is increased to 160 N, it sounds in unison with the same tuning fork, Calculate the fundamental frequency of the tuning fork.
