What is the lowest resistance that can be obtained by combining four coils of resistors of `4 Omega,8 Omega ,12 Omega and 24 Omega`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

To obtain lowest resistance given coils must be connected in parallel. Then the equivalent resistance will be
`1/R=1/R_1+1/R_2+1/R_3+1/R_4=1/4+1/8+1/12+1/24=(6+3+2+1)/24=12/24=1/2 implies R=2 Omega`
