What is a biodegradable polymer? Give an example of a biodegradable aliphatic polymer.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Biodegradable polymers are the polymers which get degraded by the environmental process and do not cause accumulation of solid waste materials. These polymers contain functional groups similar to the functional groups present in biopolymers. Poly `beta` -hydroxybutyrate Co `Beta` -hydroxy valerate (PHBV) is an example of biodegradable polymer.
