What are biodegradable polymers ? Give two examples.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Biodegradable polymers are those which are decomposed by microorganisms. In biological systems, biopolymers degrade mainly by enzymatic hydrolysis and to some extent by oxidation, PHBV (poly-`beta`-hydroxybutyrate-co-`beta`-hydroxy valerate) and nylon 2-nylon 6 are examples of biodegradable polymers.
