Integrate the rational functions`2/((1-x)(1+x^2)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let` 2/[(1−x)(1+x^2)]=A/(1−x)+(Bx+C)/(1+x^2)`
⇒`2=A(1+x^2)+(Bx+C)(1−x)`
⇒`2=A+Ax^2+Bx−Bx^2+C+Cx`
Equating the coefficient of `x^2,x`, and constant term, we obtain
`A−B=0`
`B−C=0`
`A+C=2`
On solving these questions, we obtain
...
