Naturally, the constitution of India gives equal rights to men and women. Girls must be made conscious of their rights. They have also the same rights as those of the boys. The Constitution of India doesn.t accept any discrimination based on gender or sex. Girls and boys have the same rights, duties and privileges. They include right to equality, right to liberty, right to education, and right to constitutional remedies. In practice, there is a rampant discrimination between boys and girls in the families and in the society at large. All social evils and barriers like child marriage, dowry etc., exist due to the vast difference between what our Constitution guarantees and what our society practises in reality. Human rights include both men and women. Basically, they are based on the equality and dignity of mankind. Every civilized society does provide certain special privileges to women considering their social status and biological distinctions.
