Define ferrimagnetism with suitable examples.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When magnetic moments are aligned in parallel and anti-parallel directions in unequal numbers resulting in net moment, then the magnetism is called ferrimagnetism. e.g. in `Fe_(3)O_(4), MgFe_(2)O_(4), CuFe_(2)O_(4), ZnFe_(2)O_(4)`, etc.
