What are intrinsic semiconductors ? Give an example.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Intrinsic semiconductor also called as undoped semiconductors or p-type semiconductor, the number of charge carriers is therefore determined by the properties of the material itself instead of the amount of impurities. In intrinsic semiconductors the number of located electrons and the number of holes are equal n = p.
The most common examples of the intrinsic semiconductors are silicon and germanium. Both of these are used frequently in manufacturing of Transistors and electronic products.
