The nuclear enzymes that break DNA at specific sites are called restriction endonucleases [REN]. The RENs are popularly known as Biomolecular scissors. REN may cut both the strands of a DNA at the same position or at different positions. e.g., Eco RI, Hind lll, Sal I, Barn I.
