Among plants, fungi, bacteria and animals, those that have had their DNA manipulated to possess and express and extra (foreign) gene, are known as genetically modified organisms. The two factors on which the behaviour of such organisms depends are,
(a) The nature of the gene transferred and
(b) The nature of the host cell.
