A household uses the following electrical appliances:
i] Refrigerator of rating 400 W for 10 h each day.
ii] Two electric fans of rating 80 W each for 6 h daily.
iii] Six tube lights of 18 W each for 6 h daily.
Calculate the energy consumed per day by each of these appliances in kWh.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

i] Energy consumed per day by refrigerator = `0.4kWxx10h`
`because` power of refrigerator
= `400W=400/1000kW=0.4kW`
= 4kWh
ii] Energy consumed per day by fan
= `2xx0.08kWxx6h`
`because` power of each fan
= `80W=80/1000kW=0.08kW`
= 0.96kWh
iii] Energy consumed per day by 6 tuve lights
= `6xx0.018kWhxx6h`
`because` power of each electric tube
`=18W=18/1000kW=0.018kW`
= 0.648 kWh
