What is the function of an earth wire ? Why is it necessary to earth metallic appliances ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The earth wire is connected as a safety measure with all electrical appliances that have a metallic body, e.g., microwave, electric press, toaster, geyser, cooler, AC, etc. Any leakage current to the metal body of the appliance is sent to the earth by the earth wire thereby preventing the user from getting a severe electric shock.
