List four factors on which the magnitude of the force acting on a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field depends.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Factors on which the force on a current-carrying conductor placed in a magnetic field depends are :
i] Strength of magnetic field : F `prop` B
ii] Strength of electric current : F `prop` I
iii] Length of the conductor : F `prop` L
iv] Direction between current and magnetic field : `F prop sin theta`
Magnitude of the magnetic force is hence F = BIL sin `theta` .
