To observe magnetic filed lines around a bar magnet :
Figure : Pattern formed by iron filings around a bar magnet represents its magnetic filed.
1] Stick a white sheet on a drawing board using gun or glue.
2] Place a bar magnet at the centre of the sheet.
3] Spread some iron filings uniformly around the bar magnet using salt sprinkler .
Tap the board gently and observe the pattern formed.
Inference : The iron filings experience magnetic force exerted by the magnet. Hence ,t hey arrange themselves in a pattern consisting of lines which represent magnetic lines of force. The region surrounding the magnet in which these lines of force can be detected constitute magnetic field produced by the magnet.
