State the advantages and disadvantages of using tidal energy.

Advantages of using tidal energy:
(a) it is a reversible energy source.
(b) lt does not cause any pollution.
(c) Once constructed, there is no further cost involved.
Disadvantages of using tidal energy :
(a) It cannot produce large amounts of electricity.
(b) it brings about major ecological changes in the sensitive ecosystem of coastal reglons.
(c) Tidal-power station, at the mouth of a river, blocks the flow of polluted water into the sea, creating health and pollution hazards in the estuary.
