If the roots of the equation `3x^(2) - 5x + q=0` are equal , then what is the value of q ?

A

2

B

`5//12`

C

`12//25`

D

`25//12`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Given quadratic equation is
` 3x^(2) - 5 x + q = 0 `
Since, roots of this equation are equal therefore
`b^(2)-4ac = 0`
`rArr (-5) ^(2) - 4 (3) (q) = 0`
`rArr 25- 12q = 0`
`rArr q=25/12`
