If F(x)=sqrt(9-x^(2)), then what is lim(...

If `F(x)=sqrt(9-x^(2))`, then what is `lim_(xto1) (F(x)-F(1))/(x-1)` equal to?

A

`-(1)/(4sqrt(2))`

B

`(1)/(8)`

C

`-(1)/(2sqrt2)`

D

`(1)/(2sqrt2)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

`underset(xto1)lim(F(x)-F(1))/(x-1)`
We know, `underset(xtoa)lim(F(n)-F(a))/(a-x)=F'(a)`
`:.F'(x)=(d)/(dx)(sqrt(9-x^(2)))`
`=(1(0-2x))/(2sqrt(9-x^(2)))=(-x)/(sqrt(9-x^(2)))`
`F'(1)=(-1)/(sqrt(9-1))=(-1)/(sqrt8)=(-1)/(2sqrt2)`
