The oxygen obtained form 72 kg of water is

A

72 kg

B

46 kg

C

50 kg

D

64 kg

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

The oxygen obtained from 72 kg of water is obtained by the following equation.
`{:(2H_(2)O,rarr,2H_(2),+,O_(2)),(2(2+16)=36,,,,(2xx16)=32):}`
Therefore, 36 kg of water produce 32 kg of oxygen.
Hence, `72` kg of water produce oxygen
`=(32xx72)/36=64` kg.
