Modem biologists use several principles and criteria in natural classification such as morphology, anatomy, cytology, physiology, ontogeny, phylogeny, reproduction, ethology and biochemistry. As more and more is learnt about organisms and their fossil history, biologists differ among themselves on many points of classification. The system of classification, thus, is subjected to modification.
