Ascocarps are fruiting bodies which enclose asci (sing. Ascus) and ascospores. They are produced in some higher forms of Ascomycetes (Kingdom : Fungi). Examples - Peziza, Morchella, Claviceps, Erysiphe, etc. The basidiocarps, on the other hand, are fruiting bodies which enclose basidia and basidiospores.
