Substances that are broken down into simple and harmess substances by biological processes are called biodegradable substances.
Example : Domestic wastes sewage cowdung etc .
(ii) Substances that are not broken down into simple and harmless substance are called non-biodegradable substances.
Example: Plastics, polythene bags insecticides like DDT etc
