Explanation

Functioning : (i) ESP used as exhaust in thermal power plant.
Consists of electrode wires maintained at several thousand volts, which produce corona that release electrons,
(ii) Electrons bind with dust particles giving them negative charge.
(iii) Collecting plates are positively charged grounded and attract negatively charged dust particles.
(iv) The velocity of air between the plates must be low enough to allow the dust to fall.
