Inbreeding refers to the mating of more closely related individuals within the same breed for 4-6 generation.
Significance of inbreeding :
(i) Homozygous pure lines developed.
(ii) Inbreeding increases homozygosity.
(iii) Inbreeding exposes harmful recessive genes that are eliminated by selection.
(iv) It also help in accumulation of superior genes and elimination of less desirable genes.
(v) Selection at each step increases productivity of inbreeds population.
