Two capacitors C(1) and C(2) are charge...

Two capacitors `C_(1)` and `C_(2)` are charged to 120 V and 200 V respectively. It is found that by connecting them together the potential on each one can be made zero. Then

A

`5 C _(1) = 3C_(2)`

B

`3C_(1)= 5C_(2)`

C

`3 C_(1) +5C_(2) =0`

D

`9 C_(1)=4C_(2)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A, B, C

Charge on first capacitor
`Q_(1) = C_(1)V_(1)= 120 C_(1)`
Charge on second capacitor,
`Q_(2) = C_(2) V_(2) = 200 C_(2)`
Connecting both of them. If potential on both of them become zero then
`Q_(1) = Q_(2)`
`120 C_(1) = 200 C_(2)`
`:. 3 C_(1) = 5 C_(2)`
