A large number of ` 1 muF` capacitors are available to him each of which can withstand a potential difference of more than 400 V. Suggest a possible arrangement that requires the minimum number of capacitors .

The correct Answer is:
B, C

Suppose potential on each capacitor is 250 V. So, 4 capacitors can be connected in series for potential of 1 kV.
Equivalent capacitance of series connection `= (1)/(4) mu F ` so if n row are connected in parallel to get equivalent capacitance `2 mu F ` then
`2 mu F = (1)/(4) F xxn`
`:. n=8`
`:.` Total no . of capacitors = `4xx8 = 32`
