The amplitude of the magnetic field part...

The amplitude of the magnetic field part of a harmonic electromagnetic wave in vacuum is `B_(0) = 510 nT`. What is the amplitude of the electric field part of the wave?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

During the propagation of electromagnetic wave in vacuum if amplitudes of electric and magnetic field are respectively `E_(0)` and `B_(0)`, then
`c=(E_(0))/(B_(0))`
`therefore E_(0)=B_(0)c`
`=(510xx10^(-9))(3xx10^(8))`
`=1530xx10^(-1)`
`therefore E_(0)=1.53xx10^(2)Vm^(-1) (or NC^(-1))`
