One capacitor with plate area A is being charged up. At a particular instant when charging current is I, what will be displacement current through a planar loop of area `(A)/(2)`, imagined between the plates and parallel to them ?

A

I

B

`(I)/(2)`

C

`(I)/(4)`

D

`(I)/(8)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

For a capacitor being charged, conduction current density at any point inside the plate and displacement current density at any point between the plates are always same. Hence,
`(I)/(A)=(i_(d))/(((A)/(2)))`
`therefore I=2i_(d)`
`therefore i_(d)=(I)/(2)`
