A hose lying on the ground shoots a stream of water upward at an angle of `60^@` to the horizontal with the velocity of `16 m s^-1`. The height at which the water strikes the wall `8 m` away is.

A

8.96 m

B

10.96 m

C

12. 96 m

D

6.96 m

The correct Answer is:
A

`u_H = 16 cos 60^@ = 16 xx 1/2 = 8 ms ^(-1)`
Time taken to reach the wall `=8/8 =1s`
Now , `u_v = 16 sin 60^(@) = 16 xxsqrt3/2 = 8sqrt3 ms^(-1)`
`:.h = 8sqrt3xx1 -1/2 xx 9.8 xx1^2= 13.86 -4.9 = 8.96m`
