In the adjoining figure, O is the centre of a circle . Chord CD is parallel to diameter AB. If `/_ ABC = 25^(@)`, calculate `/_ CED`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
`/_CED = 40^(@)`

Join CO and DO .
`/_ BCD = /_ ABC = 25^(@) ` [ alt. int. `/_ s ]`.
`/_ BOD = 2 /_BCD = 50^(@) [ :'` arc BD makes `/_ BOD` at the centre and `/_ BCD ` at a point on the circle ].
Similarly, `/_ AOC = 2/_ ABC = 50^(@)`
`/_ AOC + /_ COD + /_ BOD = 180^(@) implies /_ COD = 80^(@)`
`/_ CED = (1)/(2) /_ COD=40^(@)`
