The water for a factory is stored in a hemispherical tank whose internal diameter is `14 m`. The tank contains `50 L` of water. Water is pumped into the tank to fill to its capacity. Calculate the volume of water pumped into the tank.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Radius of the hemispherical `= (14)/(2) m = 7m`
Capcity of the full tank = volume of the tank
`= (2)/(3) pi r^(3)`
`= ((2)/(3) xx (22)/(7) xx 7 xx 7 xx 7)m^(3) = (2156)/(3) m^(3)`
Volume of water already contained in the tank `= 50 kL = 50 m^(3)`
Volume of water pumped into the tank `= ((2156)/(3) - 50) m^(3)`
`= (2006)/(3) m^(3) = 668.67 m^(3)`
