A hemispherical tank is made up of an iron sheet `1 cm` thick. If the inner radius is `1 m`, then find the volume of the iron used to make the tank

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Inner radius of the tank `= 1 m = 100 m`
Outer radius of the tank `= (100 + 1) cm = 101 cm`
Volume of iron used in the hemispherical tank
`= (2)/(3) pi xx {(101)^(3) - (100)^(3)} cm^(3)`
`= (2)/(3) xx (22)/(7) xx (1030301 - 1000000) cm^(3)`
`= ((2)/(3) xx (22)/(7) xx 30301) cm^(3) = (1333244)/(21) cm^(3)`
`= 63487.81 cm^(3)`
Hence, the volume of iron used in the tank is `63487.81 cm^(3)`
