Show that x=3 and y=2 is a solution of the linear equation `2x+3y=12`.

The given linear equation is `2x+3y - 12=0." "` …(i)
Substituting x=3 and y=2 in (i) , we get
`LHS = (2xx 3 + 3 xx2 -12) = ( 6+6-12) = 0 = RHS.`
`:. x= 3 and y=2 " is a solution of the equation " 2x+3y=12`
NOTE We may say that (3,2) is a solution of the equation `2x+3y = 12.`
