The given equations may be written as
`3 (x + 1 ) + 2 ( y - 1 ) = 48 rArr 3x + 2y = 47 " " `… (i)
` and 2 (x - 1 ) + 3 ( y + 1 ) = 54 rArr 2x + 3y = 53" "`… (ii)
Mulitiplying (i) by 2 and (ii) by 3 and subtracting , we get
` ( 4 - 9) y = 94 - 159 `
`rArr - 5y = - 65 rArr y = (-65)/( - 5) rArr y = 13`
Putting ` y = 13 ` in (i), we get
` 3x + ( 2 xx 13) = 47 rArr 3x = ( 47 - 26) = 21 `
