Catenation ability of sulphur is highest among chalcogens. Sulphur is next to carbon in the tendency to catenate. Catenation ability of sulphur is observed in polysulphides and polythionic acids.
Among `M-M` bonds of chalcogens, `S-S` bond is stronger and hence higher catenation ability.
