Identical springs of steel and copper ar...

Identical springs of steel and copper are equally stretched. On which more work will have to be done?

Work done in stretching a spring, `W=1/2 F xx Deltal`
where `Delta l` increases in length due to applying force,
` therefore W prop Delta l[ because (1)/(2) , F` constant]
`therefore W prop (l)/(Y) [ because Delta l = (Fl )/(AY), F, l, A` are constant]
`therefore (W_("steel "))/(W_("copper")) = (Y _("copper "))/( Y _(steel"))`
but ` Y _("steel " ) lt W _("copper")`
`therefore ` Hence, more work will be done in case in spring made of copper.

Assertion : identical springs of steel and copper are equally stretched. More work will be done on the steel spring. Reason : Steel is more elastic than copper.

Why are the springs made of steel and not of copper ?

On which the work done by a spring depends ?

A uniform thin cylindrical disk of mass M and radius R is attaached to two identical massless springs of spring constatn k which are fixed to the wall as shown in the figure. The springs are attached to the axle of the disk symmetrically on either side at a distance d from its centre. The axle is massless and both the springs and the axle are in horizontal plane. the unstretched length of each spring is L. The disk is initially at its equilibrium position with its centre of mass (CM) at a distance L from the wall. The disk rolls without slipping with velocity vecV_0 = vacV_0hati. The coefficinet of friction is mu. The centre of mass of the disk undergoes simple harmonic motion with angular frequency omega equal to -

Assertion:- Two identical trains move in opposte sense in equatorial plane with equal speed reltative to earth's surface. They have equal magnitude of normal reaction. Reason:- The trains require same centripetal force although they have different speeds.

It work done positive or negative for stretched spring ?

Which is more elastic ? Rubber or steel?

A spring of force constant K is cut in two parts at its one third length. When both the parts are stretched by same amount, the work done in the two parts, will be :-
