Clarify the difference between stress and pressure.

Pressure is force per unit area.
Both pressure and stress having same dimensions but they are not a same physical quantity.
When the force applied perpendicular to the surface then the force produce per unit area is known as pressure.
Stress is also a force per unit area but is different at every different area of the body.
For example: As shown in figure, stress is on the cross-section but it is not on the side of the rod.
