Calculate the molarity of a solution containing 5g of NaOH in 450 mL solution.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Moles of `NaOH = (5g)/(40 mol^(-1))=0.125 mol`
Volume of the solution in liters `= 450 mL//1000 mL L^(-1)`
Molarity `= (0.125 mol xx 1000 mL L^(-1))/(450 mL)=0.278 M`
`= 0.278 mol L^(-1)`
`= 0.278 mol dm^(-3)`
