Why soda water bottle kept at room temperature fizzes on opening ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When a soda water bottle kept at room temperature is opened to air the partial pressure of `CO_(2)` above the solution decreases suddenly, (as per Henry.s law). This results into a decrease in solubility of carbon-di-oxide, hence `CO_(2)` bubbles come out of the bottle with a fizz.
