The vapour pressure of pure liquid A and...

The vapour pressure of pure liquid A and B are 520 mm and 1000 mm respectively at `80^(@)C` temp. If the solution of A and B is boil at `80^(@)C` temp. and I at pressure, what will be the % of A in the mixture ?

A

`52%`

B

`34%`

C

`48%`

D

`50%`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

`P=P^(@)x_(A)+P^(@)x_(B)`
`760=(520xx x_(A))+[1000(1-x_(A))]`
`520xx x_(A)+1000-1000 x_(A)`
`therefore x_(A)=0.5`
`therefore %` mole `= 0.5xx100`
= 50%

At 80^(@)C the vapour pressure of pure liquid 'A' is 520 mm Hg and that of pure liquid 'B' is 1000 mm Hg. If a mixture solution of 'A' and 'B' boils at 80^(@)C and 1 atm pressure, the amount of 'A' in the mixture is (1 atm = 760 mm Hg)

The vapoure pressure of two pure liquids A and B, that from an ideal solution are 100 and 900 torr respectively at temperature T. This liquid solution of A and B is composed of 1 mole of A and 1 mole of B. What will be the pressure, when 1 mole of mixture has been vaporized?

The vapour pressure of two miscible liquids (A) and (B) are 300 and 500 mm of Hg respectively. In a flask 10 mole of (A) is mixed with 12 mole of (B). However, as soon as (B) is added, (A) starts polymerising into a completely insoluble solid. The polymerisation follows first-order kinetics. After 100 minute, 0.525 mole of a solute is dissolved whivh arrests the polymerisation completely. The final vapour pressure of the solution is 400 mm of Hg . Estimate the rate constant of the polymerisation reaction. Assume negligible volume change on mixing and polymerisation and ideal behaviour for the final solution.
