Gallium is used as a pyrometric liquid. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Melting point of gallium is just below `30^@C`. Boiling point of gallium is about `2400^@C`.
There is a large difference in the melting and boiling points. Therefore gallium exists as a liquid in a wide range of temperature.
Hence gallium is used in liquid thermometers, for the measurement of temperature.
