Explain Mendel's experiment with peas on inheritance of characters considering only one visible contrasting character.

Mendel conducted breeding experiments with garden peas :
(i) He studied (pure ) plants of a tall/short varieties.
(ii) He crossed them and obtained `F_(1)` progeny.
(iii) He found that `F_(1)` progeny was all tall plants.
(iv) He selfed the (hybrid) plants of `F_(1)` progeny.
(v) He found that in `F_(2)` progeny there were tall as well as short plants.
(vi) The three quarter plants were tall and one quarter was short.
