The divergent lens in m linear magnifica...

The divergent lens in m linear magnification produced by the lens is

A

m

B

`(1)/(m)`

C

`m+1`

D

`(1)/(m+1)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Here, u=mf …(i)
Linear magnification, `M=(v)/(u)` …(ii)
According to lens formula, `(1)/(v)-(1)/(u)=(1)/(f)` ...(iii)
Multiplying by u on both sides of eqn. (iii), we get
`(u)/(v)-1=(u)/(f)implies(1)/(M)-1=m` (Using (i) and (ii))
`(1)/(M)=m+1` or `M=(1)/(m+1)`
