Seven identical lamps of resistance 220 ...

Seven identical lamps of resistance `220 Omega` each are connected to a 220 V line as shown in Then the reading in the ammeter will be

A

`1/10 A`

B

`2/5A`

C

`3/10A`

D

none of these

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

`1/R = (1)/(220) xx 7 = (7)/( 220)`
or ` R = (220)/(7) Omega`
`therefore` I in the main circuit `= (220)/((220)/(7)) = 7 A`
Since seven identical resistors are joined in parallel, current through each tesistor `= 7/7 =1A`
`therefore ` Current through the ammeter `= 5 x1 = 1 A`
